Earth Day .22nd April
2022.
Earth Day is celebrated all over the world on22nd April every year. The
main purpose to celebrate of this day is to raise awareness of environmental
protection worldwide. First Earth day began in 1970 in the united state, later
on, an organization was formed to commemorate the day. In 1990 the
organization's scope expanded worldwide and the day was celebrated in 141
countries.
We
all know that pollution, especially air and water pollution, and deforestation
are resulting in depleting the ozone layer and increasing global warming. For a
long time, environmentalists have been telling us that we will have to change
our way if we want to save the planet from destruction. Apart from the thinning
of the Ozone layer and pushing up temperatures, air pollution is also causing
an alarming increase in life-threatening diseases. Deforestation and
destruction of natural habitats are resulting in addition more and more animals
on the list of extinct species every year.
All
this can at least be reduced by adopting measures like restricting the use of
products with chlorofluorocarbons, conserving water and electricity, reusing
and recycling a lot of things that we discard after use like paper, bottles,
etc, and using paper bags in place of plastic bags which are not
bio-degradable. plastic bags are not only harmful to the environment but are
also a source of nuisance.
W to usee all have a
responsibility towards our environment and our planet. It is up to us to take
care of our Earth. Even if our actions do not appear to be of immediate benefit
to us, they will pave the way for better living conditions and a better
environment for the generations to come. For our consolation, we will at least
not be blamed for the destruction of life on planet Earth.
